Dionisio Cortes
Dionisio Cortes works across multiple visual art mediums; his two- and three-dimensional work explores concepts around formal perception. He draws on both abstraction and realism to create imagery that emphasizes potential abstraction and the possibility of architecture, where space is dynamic and stable, emerging and receding, yet unpredictable. He received an award for his installation work in the Monterrey Biennial, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
Dionisio Cortes, lives and works in Highland, NY. He holds a MFA from Hunter College, CUNY, and a BArch from Coahuila State University in Mexico. Cortes has held numerous exhibitions in the United States, Mexico and Italy. His work has received awards and recognitions among them Best Sculpture at the 69th AONE Exhibition, Silvermine Galleries, New Canaan, CT and an Honorable Mention II Monterrey Biennial, MX. In addition to his art practice, Cortes has co-founded NIX NY Gallery, The Window Gallery and Front art space all in NYC for which he has acted as a chief curator. He has taught several art workshops in Mexico and NYC including installation art and painting.
